Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
I offer integrative medication management, holistic, somatic based psychotherapy and consulting services.
What do you mean by integrative and somatic?
When we talk about integrative medication management and somatic-based psychotherapy, we're referring to holistic approaches to mental health and well-being that combine various treatment methods.
Integrative Medication Management: This refers to a comprehensive approach to using medications that take into account not just traditional pharmaceuticals, but also complementary and alternative therapies. This approach aims to balance both conventional treatments (like antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications) and integrative options (such as herbal remedies, supplements, or lifestyle changes like diet and exercise). The goal is to treat the whole person by combining the best of multiple approaches, while considering the individual’s unique needs and preferences.
Somatic-Based Psychotherapy: Somatic psychotherapy is grounded in the understanding that mind and body are deeply connected. Emotional experiences, especially stress and trauma, are not only psychological but are also held and expressed in the body.
In this approach, we pay close attention to your physical experience including sensations, tension, breath, posture, and movement. The goal is to gently increase awareness of how your body responds to emotions and life experiences, and to support the release of patterns of holding or constriction that may have developed over time.
Through practices such as mindfulness, breath awareness, and gentle attention to physical sensations, somatic work creates space for emotional processing and regulation. This can support a greater sense of grounding, connection, and ease in both body and mind
What does a typical appointment look like?
Initial sessions are generally 60 to 90 minutes and include a thorough and detailed physical, mental, emotional and spiritual history and assessment.
Medication management follow-up appointments are generally 30 minutes and in addition to medication review, also include brief person-centered psychotherapy. Lifestyle education and modifications are an integral part of my practice, so we frequently talk about sleep, nutrition, exercise, chronic stress and related topics. For some patients, lifestyle changes are recommended before initiating any psychiatric medications.
Psychotherapy sessions are 55 minutes.
Appointments are as unique as each patient and are tailored to each individuals specific needs. We talk. We breathe. We feel what’s happening in our bodies. We even laugh.
